The internet is a network of networks. Each of these large networks is called an **Autonomous System (AS)** and has a unique identification number (**ASN**). For example, Google is AS15169, and Cloudflare is AS13335.
BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) is the protocol that allows different ASs to talk to each other. Think of BGP as the "GPS" of the internet; it decides the fastest route for data to travel. With this tool, you can see which IP blocks a company announces to the world.
There are mainly three types: **Stub AS** (Connected to one ISP), **Multihomed AS** (Connected to multiple ISPs), and **Transit AS** (Allows traffic to pass through, e.g., Tier-1 Carriers).
