Usable Capacity
What is the Difference Between RAID 50 and RAID 60?
RAID 50 is ideal for those who want both performance (RAID 0) and safety (RAID 5) but do not want to lose as much capacity as RAID 10. RAID 60 provides extremely high data security with its double parity feature, but its write performance is lower than RAID 50.
What is a Hot Spare?
A Hot Spare is an active backup disk "waiting" in the system. When a disk in the RAID group fails, the Hot Spare automatically activates and the "Rebuild" process begins. This allows the system to repair itself without waiting for manual intervention.
RAID 50 Performance
RAID 50 is the combination of RAID 5 groups with RAID 0 (Striping). This architecture offers much higher write speeds and faster Rebuild times compared to standard RAID 5. It is a popular choice for databases and virtualization.
