SERVER & MAIL TOOL

Reverse DNS (PTR) Analyzer

Check if your IP address resolves to a hostname. Perform the FCrDNS validation test, which is crucial for email server reliability.

What is Reverse DNS (PTR)?

Standard DNS (A Record) maps a domain to an IP ("google.com" -> "142.250.x.x"). **Reverse DNS** does the opposite; it tells you which domain an IP belongs to. This is handled by **PTR (Pointer)** records.

Why is FCrDNS Important?

Mail servers (Gmail, Outlook) perform a **"Double Check"** to verify the sender is legitimate. They check IP -> Name, then Name -> IP. If both match (FCrDNS), the server is trusted. If not, emails may go to Spam.

How to add a PTR Record?

PTR records CANNOT be managed from your domain registrar (GoDaddy, etc.). Only the owner of the IP address (Data Center or Hosting Provider) can set them. You must check your server provider's panel for "rDNS" settings.

PTR FAQ

Is PTR required for every IP?
If you just host websites, no. But if you **send emails** (SMTP) from that IP, a PTR record is mandatory. Otherwise, emails will be rejected.
How long does propagation take?
Like other DNS records, it depends on TTL, but usually propagates worldwide within 12-24 hours.
